Potluck at NUS

It started in December, when I was trying to gather everyone to celebrate Xmas and Fungie's Birthday. But plans failed as everyone went for holiday and Fungie kena chicken pox.

So this time round, I must succeed. So I tried to gather everyone again, with the surface intention of CNY gathering. Everything went smoothly and our initial plan was to have a Potluck at Botanical Gardens on Sunday.

Then when the time drew nearer, there were drastic changes. Weibo had fever, Jun Yue can't make it down to Botanical Gardens as he was busy preparing for V Day Carnival in NUS. So he suggested that we have our potluck in NUS so that we can help him too.

Then Andrew said he doesn't want to travel that fast and Tommy had things on in the evening.

In the end, 3 of us went. Yes, initally we had close to 10 people, but we are then left with the three pathetic ones. Well, Jun Yue sponsored our cab fare la, not that bad. With so much food, we arrived at NUS.

Oh mine, the table is so MESSY that perhaps if you place a pen on it, you probably can't find that pen anymore. I think we are some crazy aunties, bringing food while volunteering. LOL. And we are really well prepared, you want tissue? I have! You want plate? I have! You want fork and spoon? I also have! HAHA

We are supposed to pose with an expression of how pathetic our Sunday picnic turns out to be, but I just thought the heart shape is so nice that I dont want to spoil the pics with a sad face!

Then Yue Yin came to join us. Hehe, lazy me, the girls are all very hardworking, except for me who frequently surf net, play facebook and shop online using Adrian's computer!

And well, besides the potluck, we are here to celebrate Fungie's belated birthday! it is really super belated, her bday is 30 December and look when is it now.

Bought her a Baby G, which she just updated on her wishlist. Hope she loves it! :)

This is our heart-work (hard work). Yes, we cut the hearts and string them together so that they can hang in the whole NUS Arts walkway.

Im sure it was a memorable sunday for all of us. Doing things together just like what we did in secondary school days, having small little girl's talk along the way, listening to music, singing...好回味...wonder when will we have this chance again.

CNY Carnival at Sree Narayana Mission Home

Went Sree Narayana Mission Home today to help out in their CNY Carnival. It is a four storey home in Yishun that provides residential and institutional care for the elderly destitutes.

Thank you Fungie's papa for giving me a lift there :)

It's a CNY carnival cum celebration. All elderly will be wheeled into the hall and there are many stalls set up by volunteers, which include gambling like Big/Small. They were given 30 ice cream sticks each to play / gamble and at the end of the day, they can use the ice cream sticks to redeem small gifts such as radio, toothbrush, battieres, salonpas, pouch or bird's nest!

Fungie and I took care of the redemption counter and we were so busy conversing in all possible language we can. I am like an aunty in the market, speaking in Mandarin, English, Hokkien and some cannot-understand-Cantonese! LOL.

And some elderly took a rather long time to choose their gift and it wasn't easy to hoax them. For instance, i met a elderly who insisted on wanting a toothpaste but my prizes only got toothbrush and no toothpaste. So after repeating 15mins to her that there is no toothpaste, she still comes back and ask for it. Thank goodness one of the senior volunteer is around and manage to handle her.

Well, it was a meaningful day, im sure, for all of us. Some of them already lost the ability to recognise people or even talk. And its saddening to see them like just waiting for death to arrive. And majority of the destitutes are wheelchaired, it just makes me feel how lucky many of us are and there is only so much we can do to help them.

Really salute the volunteers who spend every Saturday here talking to them, playing with them and organising such acitivites for them, trying to make their last phase of life a more complete one.

And I am so going to get a DSLR after I graduate. Im starting to hate the blurness and the noise from my Digicam. & Brad keeps enticing / persuading me to get one. ROAR!

Went for a late dinner with Evelyn at Chomp Chomp last night as my lessons end at 630pm. She sets up a online blog shop! We went to her house to play and look at her new collection. Got pretty stuffs and we were trying out some poses and pictures with her new collection. So much FUN! :)

1 Februrary 09 - I bought my new SE hp. Review is good and I love it.

5 February 09 (TODAY) - I send my new SE hp to service centre.

WHY?

1. There is no Chinese input.

2. THE TOP TIP CAME OFF.

Upgrading Chinese text is okay for me, though I was wondering why only my hp doesnt have Chinese input while other G900 users have it. What pisses me off is the top part that came off.

In fact, it came off on the night when I bought the handphone.

The dealer told me it's the last set. And when I bought it home, I realised the earphone seal was already opened and the metallic part came off.

Damn pissed off.

And the dealer still tries to make friends with me. GRRRRR....

So when I went for servicing today, the lady asked me why don't i go back to the dealer and request for one-to-one exchange? Maybe I should lah, but because I never reply to the dealer when he sms me and I dont want him to bug me with questions, I told the lady about the dealer and hence I cant.

She was shocked!

Want to pao mei mei yet still sell me this lousy hp. GRRR!

Now I have to wait for 3-5 working days to get back my new phone. I was begging the lady to get me a new set and she set unless I came back to service for 2 more times, if not she cant change a new set.

CHOY! I hope this hp can last for 8 years, as durable as my NOKIA hp.

Believe it anot? Afterall, I still cannot run away from my old NOKIA hp. NOKIA hp, wo lai le!~

Hello hello! Im using my hp 2 blog now. It's damn cool lah. The marketing lecture is having a break now. I should eat dinner now but I am too lazy 2 do that. Yong Tian is not here in lecture with me, which makes me damn bored. Alright, enough of fun, Im going off. Bye!

Summary of the busy week

It doesn't feel good to be back in school after a long CNY break. And it definitely makes me feel worse when I have a Marketing presentation and Drama performance on that Wednesday.

So I had to sacrifice my steamboat on CNY Day 2 to stay at home to finish up all these work :(

But well, Wednesday turns out to be great. As much as I dread going for lesson at 830AM in the morning for Drama, the mini performance which I am supposed to direct is simply fantastic! Credits go to the actors and actresses lah. I adapted a fable and turn it into a Bollywood style. Nicholas and Alicia were all so compromising and
thank goodness they play along with it. Everyone had a good laugh :)

Marketing presentation sucks, but it doesn't make me hate it. In fact, I was wondering why didn't I choose Marketing as my major.

I was dreading Wednesday but looking forward to Thurday as I went to SENTOSA FLOWERS! It was early in the morning 10am but there were already many people there.

And when I was about to take photo, I FELL DOWN. SIBEI SIA SWAY CAN! Knee Cap not pretty liao! :( I think the last time I fell was during my JC days...-smacks forehead-

Then headed to Vivo to watch Da Xi SHi by Fann and Christopher!

And although I look forward to Thursday, but i definitely don't look forward to Friday as I have 6 hours LONG of Drama lessons. I seriously cannot figure out why must we learn theory in Drama which never fails to make me to sleepy.

To make things worse, I have a long FYP meeting which ends at 10PM. And I took cab home :(

After tuition on Saturday, I went out with the -wins to celebrate Adeline's birthday! Dinner was at Creation in Shaw, the pasta place which Ade and I always frequent during our internship days.

6 of us shared this pretty Swatch watch for her. Hope she likes it :)

We were talking about our Graduation Trip. Oh I think I have never mentioned it before but Ade and I will be going NZ for farm stays. But it was just an idea and nothing is finalised. And I was shocked when:

Me: How long you want to stay in NZ?
Ade: -stretched two fingers out-
Me: Two weeks hur? Ok Loh.
Ade: No, TWO MONTHS.

!!!!!!!!!

And I thought I will just spend my farm days doing some farming and feeding the cows or squeezing the milk. But the woman of course has more plans in her mind - which is to try out BUNGEE JUMPING.

Perhaps I will just spend my Graduation trip in sentosa hur. I want to be back home to celebrate my birthday n not die of heart attack from bungee! LOL

Then we went Minds Cafe to play board games.

Sunday was REN RI, although Im late but Happy Belated Birthday to all! Got up real early to head to KMS for a big Lo Hei cum Steamboat session!

They wanted us to play some icebreaking games before eating, so here we are, many heads trying to piece some CNY jigsaw together.

Went to watch the HK CNY show with my family after that. Dinner was fishead steamboat at the market near my house.

And because it was REN RI, so I must buy a birthday gift for myself right! So I bought this Sony Ericsson hp, which Chris has many complaints about but widely promoted by the salesman.

Perhaps my number was too nice and easy to remember, the salesman sms-ed me and tried to make friend with me after that. I seem to be attracting the wrong type of guys, always.
