今年的12月，不是一个开心的月份。
2位重要的朋友在12月失去了爱情。

一个，分手后还为她深爱的男人买了一件昂贵的衬衫当作圣诞礼物。
一个，初恋刚在昨天离开了她，让她整天用泪水洗脸。

而我呢，一直在等待着不会降临的爱情。

It was a long day

Met Fungie in town yesterday for shopping. Poor girl is finally out of her house after kena chicken pox. And immediately after she recovered, she permed her hair and we went shopping! (Though Im meeting her again on Xmas day) HAHA, can you sense how anxious she wants to get out of her house?

Lunch was at THE PASTA SHOP by Sakae at Wheelock. It seems like there are more and more Japanses Pasta restaurants opening up in Singapore. Even Sakae has joined in the fun of playing with pasta. But well, I guess it was a wrong move for them.

I have never leave a restaurant feeling so pissed off and hoping that they will just close down, for goodness sake.
I have never sit in a nicely decorated restaurant feeling that everything is so screwed up and nearly die of hunger.
I have never seen how lousy a restaurant manager can be until I came here.

And mind you, Im not fussy or whatever, but this restaurnt, Im sorry, it's gona be a mark-down post in my food blog, with service 1/10.

Im serious.

We went into this restaurant at 1PM, thinking it's something new so we wanted to give it a try. They have this LUNCH SPECIAL ($13.95) which includes a pasta/curry rice, salad/soup and a drink.

And to be frank, they have lotsa pasta to choose from. Cream Sauce, Basil Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Ordinary Pasta etc, you name it, they have it. BUT, I couldn't really find something I would like to try. They have a few popular ones and specialties, but it wasn's that special or it doesnt look that yummy to me.

So in the end, Fungie picked Curry Pork Cutlet Rice while I chose THE PASTA SHOP BACON CABONARA. - which is their specialty. And we shared a Fried Chicken Cutlet with Cheese (Chicky Cheese).

So there comes and salad and soup, which was still ok.

Then while drinking it, the table beside us, complained to the waitress that they had waited for 30 mins and their pasta is still not here. In the end, after another 15 mins, they went off with only 2 cups of hot tea on the table.

So a while later, the waitress came with Fungie's Curry Rice. It was moderate, the rice as not soft, according to Fungie and the cutlet was ok and the curry was ok.

So she starts eating...

and SUDDENLY, the restaurant manager came with a bill and some change. We looked at her, she looked at us, blur blur and she asked: "You called for the bill right?"
Hello AUNTY, my main course not even here, I call bill for what?

and so Fungie continues to eat...

and eat...

and eat...

And she was eating very slowly, like slowly putting the last spoonful of rice into her mouth, slowly eating the curry potatoes...

and she even offered her cutlet and potatoes to me *weeps*

10 mins has passes.
20 mins has passed.
30 mins has passed.

ANOTHER FUNNY THING HAPPENED.

Fungie called the restaurant manager (the same one who gave us the bill). The restaurant manager gave Fungie a nod, which means she is coming over right?

BUT instead of coming over, she walk and walk and walk,

and WALK PASS US, and walk one big round around the restaurant, machiam like cat walk like that, TOTALLY IGNORE OUR PRESENCE.

SHOCKED!!

Ok, so in the end, we called one of the waitress to help me check my order. And she apologise for the delay and said there were alot of customers.

HELLO MISS, the restaurant is not even filled! it's not full. there is no queue and can you please tell me how do you define alot of customers?

so while im bored waiting for my food to arrive, we looked around and saw many tables with only appetizers, all like hungry ghost, waiting for the waitress to serve their main course.

Alright, so it;s not only us!

Then we stared at the entrance of the kitchen, hoping to see some food. We atared at it for a long time and nothing came out of the kitchen! it's like OMG!

So fungie guessed theres only a chef preapring everything.
I guessed the chef fainted in the kitchen with 'SO MANY' orders on hand.

Meanwhile, a group of PRC tourist sat beside us and placed their orders. AND not long later, the waitress came with a Pasta with Basil sauce for one of the PRC lady. My eyes were opened widely, staring at it, wondering how come their food has arrived and not mine! In the end, the waitress brought the WRONG FOOD to the WRONG TABLE. -_-

OkOk, after 40 mins of long wait, I was half pissed off and half amused by the wonderful service of the restaurant, my pasta is finally here! My pasta is here at 1.50PM. whoo!

I dont usually order creamy pasta, cuz I dun really know to eat/appreciate the cream. But today, I think Im out of mind, I actually wanted to try their SPECIALTY - the bacon cream pasta.

AND ok it sucks. totally.

The cream sauce was too creamy (that's biased comment cuz i dun realli like cream), I would prefer pasta to be more wet, with the creme, everything is stick together in a mess, and the BACON IS HARD N DRY!

The snacks we order, cheesy chicken, fungie said she cant taste the cheese and good gracious, it costs $9.90. Oh please, I give u 10 cents more, can u please throw this plate of expensive yet yuckky thing away?

In the end, i left half plate of pasta untouched. I was hungry. But i waited till i wasnt hungry anymore.

All along, i feel that i shouldnt criticize a restaurant too obviously, or at least do it in a subtle way. but the lousy food, the lousy service in the pasta shop, im sorry, i cant bring myself to be too kind.

THE PASTA SHOP - MY FIRST AND MY LAST.

so we called for the bill. it was another long wait again! SO we decided to head to the cashier ourselves and foot the bill lor. we asked the restaurant manager cum cashier about the long wait and the mess, he explained theres usu two chefs but ytd they only had one. the printer was screwed and everything was in a mess.

Not an excuse. You are in a service line. You work in a restaurant, so you should be prepared for all circumstance, hire enough service crew, train them well so that they dun deliever the wrong pasta to wrong table, promote ur restaurant managers ONLY when u feel they are up to it and not giving me the bill when I havent start my main course at all. Most importantly, HIRE ENOUGH CHEFS to cook for the small crowd. Cumon, it's not crowded at all and u are spending 45mins cooking those lousy food?

I think out of everything we have order, Fungie's curry rice is the safest and the best one. Even her cold green tea is BITTER water.

Im sure you can feel how lousy this restaurant is, cuz i wont usu comment anything about food or restaurant in my personal blog.

Ok enough of those, after the lousy lunch, it didnt dampen our shopping mood. Fungie's agenda was to get a xmas pressie for her boy. And yes, she got it finally. And it was an expensive gift. OMG.

I hope your boi likes it :)

In the evening, I head over to PS to meet the AJC girls for dinner to celebrate MIchelle's belated birthday cum Xmas! Dinner is at one of our fav restaurant, HOT TOMATO! Bought a bottle of rose fragrance from crabtree as it was her wishlist.

It was a tuesday! so after dinner, we head over to GELARE to enjoy the half price waffle! Yummy! N we exchange presents! I got Lishan's magical coin box (thanks girl, I think it suits me, cuz i need to save money! haha), jieying got my Red Earth blusher and Lishan got a pretty butterfly necklace. Michelle got us small souvenirs from japan, which is very pretty, esp the tissue holder. Thanks Mich!

转眼间，冬至又来临了。和往年一样，我们家一大早便爬起来一起搓汤圆。

瞧，有白色和粉红色的，多么可爱哦！

这是大家努力后的成果。我比较幸运，每年能在家里和家人一起自己制作汤圆，保留即将遗失的传统。表妹今天还跟她的妈咪说：“表姐的红汤圆是我吃过最好吃的！”

的确，用爱心制作的汤圆是最好吃的。

You've Got Mail Party

While rotting at home on a lovely Saturday afternoon, doing my masks and was about to take a short nap before I wake up and have dinner, I receive a call from an unknown number.

ME: Hello?
The person who called: Zhane ah, 你知道我是谁吗？我是稀客.

Well, obviously this guy is from NTU coz he calls me by this name. I think, think, think, not Nick Sir, not Yong Tian, Im so totally clueless.

In the end, it was Anthony who uses his company hp to call me!

So what actually happen?

Orh... The CAC Forte peeps are going for a Singles Party called "You've Got Mail". Unfortunately Peifen was having fever, they need to find replacement (four-to-go), so Anthony called and asked if Im free.

Well, since I have nothing to do at night, and I havent seen them for a long time. So boom, in 3 hours time, I met the people at Vivocity. Well, sadness la, Forte outing only left the four of us! LOL.

So what's this party all about?

Held at St James Powerstation, from 8pm-11pm, this party is for singles and at least 23 years old. Well, im underaged la, but Im using Peifen's name to enter the place. hehe. And funny thing is, Anthony and Xiu Wen are attached liao, yet they are the organiers for this outing. Diaos!

Highlights:
- Special performance by Project Superstar II Winner, Daren Tan
- Free flow of Bacardi drinks from 8pm to 10pm
- Goodie bag worth more than $50
- Lucky draw - they got really GREAT PRIZES!

And, the four of us, are all not party-goers! and it's all OUR FIRST TIME to St James Powerhouse. Anthony still went to surf the net and proudly told us that it's the size of 5 football fields. -_- We are trying not to act like first timers, but we lost our way there and had to ask an waitress, which makes us look very noob! HAHA

We reached at around 8.10pm and the queue was very very long! So while waiting, we took photos!

I screamed at this photo cuz it's like DO_RE_MI: Tallest to shortest! Sian. In the end we saw a hump on the road and I stood on the hump and take again! :D

After close to 1 hour of waiting, we are finally inside! It's CROWDED! And wow I even see a few aunties in their mid 40-50s?

All of us had vodka. It didnt taste like Vodka, more like Sprite to me. And i really thought it was just Sprite, until Lirong told me her head started spinning after drinking it.

Ok, why is Anthony on stage? Let me start the story. When we met at MRT station, he was holding on to this grey tie and asking me if he should wear it. I said yes cuz it makes him look more fun and casual.

Then when we enter the party, they had this BEST DRESSED contest and the MC nominated ANTHONY cuz the MC thinks Anthony dresses like school boi. And so he was up on stage. Photo taken with another contestant. there are total 6 contestants. 3 guys, 3 girls.

Then when the MC interviewed him, he keep pointing to me and said I m his IMAGE CONSULTANT. Wah, i nearly want to find a hole and dig myself somewhere -_-

Anyways, the contestants have to do catwalks la. and they have to remember FOUR GOLDEN NUMBERS: 1, 2, 5, 7 cuz they are suppose to pose with the numbers. Uploaded a mini video on the catwalk by ANTHONY! ~~

and ONLY 3 of us cheered for him! We have fully made used of our powerful cheering voices as orientation group leaders! In the end, he was the first runner up! LOL.

And he wants to take a photo with his image consultant -_-

TADEH! we left at 11.15pm and home sweet home! our next party will be at GAY PUB in Tanjong Pagar! LOL. I miss the days in FORTE!

Too full from supper

It's 1.15AM, I have just reached home not too long ago from YAC Supper. It feels great to sit down in one big family and eat together again. All of us have been too busy and it has been a long time since we last did that.

It's great that I have suggested the Xmas Gift Exchange! It's great to see all familiar faces coming back. Xmas is all about gathering, isn't it?

I spent my whole afternoon in town desperately shopping for Xmas pressies. And I have bought ALL Xmas Presents! $200 poorer but definitely 200 times HAPPIER! I really hope the good can be here on time!

On the train to town, I met this very expressive uncle.

As usual, the train is very crowded and I was waiting to board the train. People were walking in, including me. And this uncle who is in front of me suddenly step back for no reason and he stepped on my big toe, that I let out a big OUCH!

And what comes after it is more interesting.

Instead of saying sorry or something, he said:

"OH SHIT!...SHIT!...SHIT!"

1st SHIT: He stepped onto my toe.
2nd SHIT: Because I OUCH!
3rd SHIT: He had to try to squeeze into the crowded train.

I wasn't pissed off, instead I was quite amused by him. Perhaps he uses SHIT as a way of apologizing? Haha

Sometimes it's interesting to read the comments left my readers of my food blog.
One asks why I write in Chinese, is it because I can't write in English?
One wants to set up an organic restaurant in China and needs my advice.
One happens to be a research writer in Mediacorp and invited me to participate in their food program.
Some tourists just visit this blog and look at what's there to eat in Singapore. In my recent post, there is even a korean student who only came to Singapore for two weeks and doesn't dare to try Kway Chap.
Some just comment for the sake of commenting, so that I can comment back or link their blog.
Some are regulars, whom we eventually become friends.

How interesting.
One day, when I get my DSLR, I will definitely buy a domain and ask a web designer to do up my whole food blog. Hehehe

My N Level student got 8 points for her N Levels. I think she can easily get 6 points lor, if only she get a A1 for her Maths. But oh well, great job Sharlene! And her Mummy has called me to thank me and hope that I can continue coaching her since it's her O Levels next year and she has been with me for 1 year plus liao. She doesnt mind coming to my house too, even though I think that's useless cuz i will be staying in hall.

OH yes, I will be staying in Hall 11, Block 56 next semester! Single room! All of you are welcome to come over and stay! :)

I have been sitting on my chair since 2pm:

1. Doing a table of summary for all FYP interview transcripts
2. Compiling the FYP Progress Report and writing on the updates.
3. Drawing a proposal for a organisation
4. Replying emails for FYP

Doing FYP when Christmas is drawing near. How GREAT! And we will be shooting again this Sunday before I rush off to my family gathering.

我们自己都看不到前面的路，只是盲目地拍拍拍！

Besides the FYP stuffs, I have also been writing XMAS cards! Write, write, write, write until my hands are killing me, my colour pens and ink pads are failing on me! ROAR!

AND I haven't got the time to buy presents for all gift exchange! GOSH! I need to one each for:

• YAC Xmas Xchange
• TingTing
• AJ Girls Gathering
• Fungie!

And Im still having piano lessons on Xmas Eve, and I haven't start practising. James is gona kill me! T_T

Xmas is an extremely EXPENSIVE season, but I simply love buying xmas gifts for my all loved ones!

Takashimaya is very CROWDED yesterday. Looks like everyone has already stop working and in the mood of buying xmas gifts, just like me (even though I have stopped working long ago LOL)!

I saw so many PRETTY dresses online/Bugis/Far East when Im totally BROKE. When Im loaded with the intention of buying a dress, how come I don't see any pretty ones? :(

Although it's not my birthday month (*ahem*ahem*), and although I don't think I will spoil myself with a lovely xmas gift, but still, NO HARM DREAMING right?

Okay, I have finally finished writing all the required posts in my food blog! Sometimes it's really difficult to write about food. I mean I can say how sucky it is but what if you are invited to taste the food? Should I make use of what I learn in moral right and just write as it is? Or should I just write the good points of it all?

Dilemma la.

I have been at home for the past few days. Partly because I WAS SICK! Went for supper with the YAC guys on Friday night and we just had three plates of sambal stingray in front of us. We ate nothing but stingray. And great, the sambal is too spicy for my stomach's then toilet became my best friend.

Frankly, I enjoy it! HAHA. This is a good time to shit away all the unshitted toxins in my body! And a good time to erm... jian fei?

But it got worse over the weekends, then I thought it wasnt a good sign anymore.

Practice Session on Friday:

Went out on Saturday Night for a while to attend my music school's piano recital concert. initially fungie is going with mi but poor girl down with DUCK POX (haha!). Thankfully Lishan agrees to go with me! thanks girl! hope u like the otah! :)

Raffles Hotel is so beautiful at night. Yes, I know Shan, so romantic but wrong company right! :p

Anyway this girl is the most well dressed performer la. other performers even wear slippers on stage lor. And, oh mine, Fungie remember who is Hui Jun? She performed too!

James (my instructor, the STAR for the night! *beams*) and Jonathon! So good, they are going HK after the performance! And I still got piano lesson on XMAS EVE n NEW YEAR EVE! How sad is that! :(

Raffles Hotel is too pretty. Nan de we are there, of coz must cam whore abit! But please dont see my face, not in good shape.

She has the perfect height and shape of a model la! jealous!

The chapel at Chijmes. Yes girls, please bring all ur boyfriends to chijmes and pat tor lah. It's the place with everything! food and ambience!

It was a raining Sunday. I headed to a temple in Lavender to make a visit and talk to the person in charge to ask for permission to do our FYP shoot there. I went with my Mum, cuz my FYP mates are tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo busy to reply emails and dont wish to spend their sunday doing this?

Ok lah, Im not pissed anymore. So i should not complain.

That aside, met my parents for dinner at TPY yesterday and bought this two shoes! Cute right!

And we had this conversation, which leaves me diao

DAD: Maxine (my Pri 6 cousin) scored 270+ for her PSLE, wah so smart hor.
ME: -nods head-drinking soup-
DAD: That time how much you got hur? 280+ right?
ME: -nearly threw out the soup- and before I had the chance to say something...
MUM: NO LA! She got 236 only!
ME: -really threw out the soup- it's 231. -_-

Girls are girls la, dates are important to us. these significant numbers are important to us. and we expect our loved ones to remember them too. I thought PSLE and O LEVELs and A LEVELS are something that I wont forget and my parents wont forget. Obviously they have proven me wrong.

But Im sure if I ask my beloved AH YI, she will be able to tell me all without any mistakes, right?

Anyway, IM HAVING ANOTHER FAMILY GATHERING THIS SUNDAY!
AGAIN!
Why am I always having family gathering? I dont understand!

My legs are breaking

I think I have never walk so much within a few days in my whole life. Plaza Singapura, Far East, Heeren, Bugis, Vivocity, then pilates lesson, aerobics workout, dumbells sessions, my legs are killing me. I think if I continue with all these walking, I can soon have the stamina to join WB for trekking in Swizterland.

Met Andreas Xiaomei for lunch in town today. Finally get to see her BoyF-to-be. He must be assessed and approved by this Da Jie 1st! LOL.

Then met Evelyn for job hunting! We initially went to CK Tangs to apply for PT sales assistant post but unfortunately it was already filled up. My dear Evelyn is so bored to death that she is dying to get a job to kill boredom. So while shopping at Far East, she went to ask for jobs from those shops that claims to be hiring. But many of them are either hiring FT or no longer has any positions. Oh well, hope she finds a job! :) As for me, no more CK Tangs job, I think I just want to relax relax and relax and do my FYP. Progress has been rather slow this week. Emails replied are slow, decision making is slow, I cant stand slowness goodness!

Both of us has been shopping in Far East for dunno how many times that we got tired and bored after like 1 hour? So we bought Old Chang Kee, sat down and chit chat. Then we were still bored and it was raining heavily, so we ended up in a nail shop and I did pedicure. -_-

After dinner, went back to take a look at Eve's new house. OMG! It's friggin HUGE! It's along Old Upper Thomson road, the place where there's alot of monkeys? Got security alarm somemore, and it's just like those hidden gem among the jungle. 别墅！4 storey high! Got basement somemore! And a fish pond! alamak!

it's super quiet at night, which is good when you need peace. But well, 4 girls in a big house. No wonder Eve is bored!

Renovation is still on the way. This BIG SPACE is gona be the Brother's room. And note, I only took half of the room. I dunnoe so big for what? U can just climb your stairs to exercise, no need Amore liao.

This is the living room at Level 2. Can u see, all her toys fill up the whole sofa, no place to sit. WIN LIAO LOR!

Her pink room with big mirror! It's damn cool la! Im writing all these in exclamation marks cuz Im really shocked by her house!

Met Jie Ying the day before and went Vivocity to shop. She just ended her exams, so she havent really "conquer" any shopping places whereas for me, I have been walking in Far East for dunnoe how many times and Bugis every week, so left us with no choice but to shop in Vivocity. There are sales everywhere, Mango sales is crazy. But I decided to save money and bought nothing! :) Lishan fly kite for her BoyF! :p

Dinner was at Nonya n Baba restaurant, in conjunction with Little Nonya? Haha.

Asyam Fish Head! Yummy! Burps! But we felt Blue Ginger is better :)
